Ukraine's power facilities have come under escalating attacks in recent weeks

Overnight, Russian missile and drone strikes have caused electricity outages in large parts of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv.

A number of civilians were hurt while local people in eastern districts were experienced blackouts and dealt with problems to water supplies, per reports from municipal leaders.

At the same time, a seven-year-old child was killed in a different aerial attack in the southeastern region in the country's south-east, according to area administrators.

Russian forces has escalated strikes on energy facilities over the past few days, while the country's government has demanded "real steps" from partner nations to apply pressure on Russia.

Authorities reported that 450 drones and several dozen projectiles attacked Ukraine's energy infrastructure, labeling such attacks as "premeditated" and against "essential services" as temperatures become colder.

The energy minister said Moscow was "conducting extensive attacks" and repair crews were striving to fix the damage.

A barrage of missiles struck electrical systems and residential structures in the capital.

Area administrators said the city experienced heavy assaults throughout the evening. A seven-year-old child was killed and several individuals were hurt.

The strikes follow periods of aerial attacks in the region, portions of which are occupied by invading troops.

National leaders told journalists that Moscow was intentionally trying to demolish the country's energy grid, with assaults already disrupting fuel infrastructure.
