The defendant was arrested after eight youngsters and an older person experienced illness at the location in mid-summer.

The 76-year-old, from Ruddington in Nottinghamshire, admitted guilt to a total of 17 charges when he was present at Leicester Crown Court on Friday.

Yet, he disputed one particular crime he was accused of, which was involving a nine-year-old boy.

The defendant was kept in jail before a additional proceeding on 28 November.

'Sweet game'

The legal representative, handling the case, described the criminal behavior to the judicial body.

She said his targets were disadvantaged youngsters who were participating in a summer program which he operated.

Ruben played a "sweet game" with the youngsters, the legal counsel explained, in which he would enter the sleeping quarters when they were getting ready for bed and ask them to eat sweets "rapidly".

She stated to the judge Ruben had engaged in this activity with the boys "repeatedly", and youngsters had earlier experienced illness the next day.

She stated the man had been capable of justifying this for many years as the children being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his stepson had worries in recently.

The legal representative stated further: "In the summer" his stepchild had suspicions about the activities, with valid cause.

"They chose" to have a look in the man's possessions."

The legal counsel explained objects including infant oil, ointment and injection devices were discovered, and his stepchild notified the police about his worries.

She stated the defendant went on to conduct the "treat game" with six boys that evening - July 26th - and they were all ill the following morning.

"Authorities" had not responded by that stage," she added.

The regulatory agency, the police conduct office, had stated that it was reviewing law enforcement's management of the situation.

Mrs Prior stated the children were having difficulty walking due to their condition, so Ruben's stepson notified the police a second time.

She said the man then conducted the "candy game" in a area of five minors.
